Having a private beach for you! It sounds like a privilege that only millionaires can have but it is possible in this Vietnam northern island – Cat Ba Island. The name says it all. It is a secret hospital built into a cave. During Vietnam War, Hospital Cave served as a bomb shelter and a hospital for Viet Cong leaders and injured soldiers.
Constructed between 1963 and 1965, Hospital Cave has three levels and 17 rooms. The first floor is handmade concrete, and the top two levels are mostly natural rock taking advantage of the terrain. The site is situated on the road to Cat Ba National Park, north of Cat Ba Town.

Cat Ba island is one of the best places for kayaking. Blocked by limestone mountains, the water current is slow and calm. It is suitable for even beginners to kayak here.
If you do not kayak in the group or have a tour guide, remember not to go too far. You should always be careful with direction. Thousand of limestone towers that look alike can turn into a maze.

Cat Ba archipelago itself is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This proves the biodiversity of nature in the islands. With the total area of 26,241 ha, there are three distinct ecosystems in the island which is home to thousand species of fauna and flora. Many of them are endemic and rare. The most significant creature is Golden-headed langur aka Cat Ba Langur, found nowhere else in the world.
